SkinnyTinis: All the Fun for Half the Calories

By Janet

How do we maintain or lose weight without giving up small pleasures in life like a night out on the town with the girls or a stiff martini after a long day at the office? That was the question that prompted me to begin looking at alcohol differently. Instead of trying to avoid it, I’d prefer to find ways to modify recipes and habits so I can still enjoy my favorites. Hence the advent of SkiinnyTinis! I was so proud of my concoctions and revelations that I felt compelled to share them with the rest of the social drinkers who share my struggle. The recipes in this book have been tested, and users have rated them just as tasty as their high-calorie counterparts (if not tastier). The only difference? They have less than half the calories.

  1. Yes, a great drink book!
    by Krystal Mcgill

Good drinks for half the calories? I am in! This is a seriously good drink guide that any girl would love to have at her disposal. And the drinks pack a serious punch, too, so be warned!!

  2. SkinnyTinis Book
    by Kristie M. Cardullo

Great recipes for lightening up those heavy calorie drinks. I have tried many of these recipes and they have all tasted great so far.

  3. Skinitini Party
    by Stephen J. Howes

On getting a copy of this book, we decided to test out some of the recipes. It turned out to be an excellent party. We made the Mellon Fizz, the Skinny Appletini and the Skinny Pina Colada. We had a bottle of Store bought Pina Colada mix and figured out that the skinny version had only 25% of the normal drink. Surprisingly, we woke up very fresh and clear headed the next morning. Were all those past hangovers of the bad old days due to the loads of sugar and chemicals in the original recipes? Can’t wait for the next testing party. I wonder if Teresa is thinking of the sequel “Skini Hors d’oeuvres?”

  4. A Must Have for Everyone's Liquor Cabinet.
    by Jamie G.

This beautiful book is a must own. The hints and suggestions are helpful for everyone regardless if you’re maintaining a healthy weight and lifestyle or trying to reduce your waistline while enjoying social drinking. The recipes are practical and very tasty. The illustrations are gorgeous. Basically everyone will find something or lots of some things to enjoy from this book of wonderful drink recipes. Even those who prefer to enjoy non-alcoholic drinks. Buy, party and enjoy!

  5. Worth the buy!
    by Amber Boots

Such a wonderfully put together book. I have been in the weight loss field since 1993 and never have I come accross a solution for anyone who would like to have a drink for minimal calories and still feel good about weight loss or maintaining their weight. Definately worth getting this book for yourself or as a gift!

  6. Excellent Recipes!
    by S. Park

What a great book of drink recipes! I loved being able to make these super easy drinks – sometimes recipes get too difficult, but not these! And they are so super yummy! I am going to use these at my upcoming bridal shower and wedding! I sneaked a few to the finace and he did not notice they were lo-cal! GREAT IDEA!

  7. A Skinny Girl's Dream!
    by Lexi Lu

I just received this book and I’m so excited to try all the recipes! I’ve already made the Skinny Appletini, and it’s to die for; plus it has 54% fewer calories than the original recipe! I’ve been struggling with the dreaded pre-wedding diet, and so many diet books tell you to stop drinking all together. Well–with a bridal shower, bachlorette party, and the stress of planning a wedding–I need to make room in my diet for the occasional drink. SkinnyTinis is the perfect solution–I’m recommending it to all my girlfriends!

  8. So glad I tried this book!
    by Rachel

I work out 6 days a week, but also like to have drinks with friends occasionally, and until now those two were at odds. This book helped reconcile the two by offering lots of drink recipes as well as loads of related tips and rules of thumb to keep in mind.

The book breaks down like this:

-Introduction (includes charts comparing many spirits and mixers’ percentage of alcohol and calories)

-Getting Your Skinny Bar Ready (shopping tips, lists of essentials and extras, info on Skinnytinis website)

    -Skinnytini Recipes (30)

    -Skinny Cocktails Recipes (20)

-Love the Recipes – But What Do I Do When I’m Out? (10 recipes you can easily order, 10 that are a little trickier to order)

-The Skinny Tricks (know your garnishes, managing weight & social life, save calories & cash, earn your party, know your limits)

My own recommendations: the Skinny Sangria was a standout, the Candy Apple Martini was not so good.

  9. Great "skinny" drink ideas!
    by Shopaholic

Although I haven’t actually tried the recipes yet, all my favorite beverages are in here, and then some. I can’t wait to try the lower-calorie versions of martinis and other cocktails. There are pictures of the drinks throughout the book, which makes it nice, and it gives the calorie count for each beverage.

  10. SkinnyTini's Book Review
    by Conni L. Challburg

This informative book offers the latest tips for women to create their own cocktails at any time, using a variety of mixers! This has opened up a whole new world of drink ideas for me, especially when going out. I especially love the Cactus Chill, made with agave nectar and tequila and the skinny Bellintini, made with champagne and sugar-free peach syrup! The pictures and commentary in the book make you want to try them all!
